Remember back in the day of pixelated screens, simple graphics, cheesy music and blocky controllers… Sitting in your friend’s dark, dingy basement on shag carpet and tacky orange couches playing Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros…. Those video games that you grew up with – the ones that started a gaming revolution and a billion dollar industry today; the ones that hold a special pixel in your heart.
On Saturday Nov. 21, the first ever Gamer Camp will be happening in Toronto. It’s an event created and hosted by my brother and his friend, Jaime. Even if you don’t go, check out the website ‘cause it’s great:

“Bring your retro caps and nostalgia pants because it’s going to be a day of looking back at the games that defined our lives and an industry and how they continue to influence us today.”
The $15 ticket includes a day of: speakers and panelists from the Toronto gaming industry known around the world, an open game demo stage and a very cool exhibition curated by the Replay Arcade Museum on retro and rare games. There will also be snacks, dinner and many hours of game-play throughout the day.
SWEETMEAT is sponsoring the event and will be providing the delicious snacks and treats throughout the day :)
See you there!
Love from the ove’,Catherine
